Hi, I’m LeeAnne! Along with my husband, we took a leap of faith—trading corporate life for the joys and challenges of homesteading. What started as a dream quickly became our reality, and we’ve never looked back.
Two years ago, we made a bold move: we sold our newly built condo in the city and embraced the country life, settling into a charming (but definitely neglected) old farmhouse on a small acreage of land. It wasn’t perfect, but we saw its potential, and that was enough to get us started.
Our journey began with late-night scrolling through real estate apps, dreaming of possibilities. Then, life nudged us in the right direction—my husband was laid off due to corporate downsizing. Instead of seeing it as a setback, we took it as our sign to go all in. With my employer’s blessing to work remotely, we packed up and made the move.
Summer of 2023 marked the start of Mint Berry Homestead. Cleaning up the property was a massive task—we filled five dumpsters, cut down dead trees, and tackled renovations one project at a time. Between my full-time remote job and my husband’s new role in the community, we squeezed in every spare moment to bring our homestead to life.
And wow, has it been worth it! Our garden thrived in its first year, our chickens keep us well stocked in fresh eggs, and despite the inevitable bumps in the road, we wouldn’t trade this life for anything.
Then, in the summer of 2025, it was my turn to be laid off—AI, automation, and downsizing called my number. But instead of seeing it as the end, I embraced the beginning. It was time to fully commit to homesteading.
Beyond homesteading, my passion for wellness has been a guiding force in my life. Through my studies at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and the New Mexico School of Natural Therapeutics, I’ve deepened my understanding of holistic health, natural healing, and mindful living—values that now shape the way we nurture our land, care for ourselves, and build a sustainable future.
Today, Mint Berry Homestead is more than just a place—it’s our passion. We’re dedicated to sustainable living, working with nature, and finding joy in the simple moments.
