The Transition to Homesteading

One of the most important things to know before you get started with homesteading: There will never come a day you have completed everything, its an endless cycle of work & blessings.

Homesteading at Mint Berry Homestead is more than a lifestyle—it’s a homecoming. After years in the high-stakes world of a major tech company, where deadlines ruled and the “boss babe” culture thrived, the move from a sleek city condo to the quiet countryside marked a profound shift. It wasn’t just about changing scenery—it was about reclaiming health, peace, and purpose.
The transition wasn’t easy. Tools break. Pests surprise. Weather shifts plans. There are days when the weeds win and the watering schedule is interrupted. But each setback becomes a lesson. Watering, pruning, and pest control are done with care—no harmful chemicals, just natural solutions and a commitment to wellness.
Now, the rhythm of life is slower, but richer. The pond reflects this pace—ducks and geese glide across the water, cranes and wild birds visit with the seasons, and the hum of nature replaces the buzz of traffic and meetings. Chickens roam freely, offering fresh eggs and daily entertainment. The garden, expanded to over 10 raised beds and 4 ground beds, bursts with okra, potatoes, onions, watermelon, and squash—each crop a testament to care, patience, and the healing power of soil.
The hard work is real, but so is the joy. A basket of eggs. A ripe watermelon. A pond full of life. These small victories carry more meaning than any corporate milestone ever did. Homesteading teaches resilience, gratitude, and the beauty of imperfection.
Mint Berry Homestead is now a place where the land is loved, the animals are known, and each day begins with purpose. The journey from city lights to country life was filled with challenges—but every step led closer to home.
